Auguste
Renoir
Auguste Renoir (Limoges
February 25, 1841 - Cagnes-sur-Mer, December 1919), is one of
the most famous French painters. Not easily classifiable, he was
part of the Impressionist group, but it is quickly dismissed by
the 1880s.
More interested in painting portraits and female nudes by the
landscape, he develops a characteristic way of painting that
transcends his early influences (Fragonard, Courbet, Alfred
Dehodencq, Monet, and the Italian fresco).
For about sixty years, he has painted about six thousand
paintings, which is a record before Picasso. |
